Hdq. Battery

by Sgt. Paul J. Kappes

Any man of the 727th is free to submit stories to this column. Just see you Battery Reporter Pvt. Elmer Braden gave us the biggest surprise of the period of our absence from the Division. What does he do: Yep he dood it. Congratulations to you Mr. and Mrs. (Oops) Pvt. and Mrs Pvt. Elmer Braden. Elmer did it up big while he was home on furlough in Tennessee recently. Louise is here with him, living in Smithville. Congratulations to both of you ~

Speaking of the arrival of wives, the better half of almost every married man in the Battery is in this vicinity. Recent arrivals were Mrs. M/Sgt. Dostle, Mrs. T/Sgt. Grossman, Mrs. S/Sgt. Biscone, Mrs Cpl. Weaver, Mrs.Pvt. Feirdhrn, Mrs Pvt. Maitz, and, of course, the arrival of the aforementioned Pvt. Braden. We welcome you all. I'll have to bring my wife down. From the construction of some of these pontoons built around the legs of the beds of our barracks to ward off bugs, I swear we resemble an Engineer Battalion rather than a Machine Gun Battalion. Pvt. Ed Wieland and Sgt. Bob Rolir are sold on these bedbugs.
