Squires to Play With Symphony



T/5 Ralph A. Squires of Division Artillery Headquarters, noted concert pianist in civilian life, will be soloist when the 85-piece Austin Symphony Orchestra plays at Camp Swift on Monday, August 28. The orchestra, under the direction of Dr. N. J. Bujendorp will appear at the open air theater behind the sports arena near Service Club No. 1.

Corporal Squires will play Grieg's well-known "Piano Concerto in A" and will repeat this performance on August 29th with the Orchestra in a program to be played in Austin. The Camp Swift program will include light symphonic pieces, selections by the distinguished Austin Mixed Chorus and encores requested by the audience.

The soldier pianist, who is director of the School of Music in his home town, Shreveport, La, has appeared extensively throughout the country with orchestras among them the Minneapolis Symphony. Corporal Squires studied in France under Harold Bauer and the renowned Robert Casadesus.
