Camp Swift Training Site

The Camp Swift training site provides a training environment for military and civilian organizations with training areas and facilities on a year round basis, to accommodate up to a battalion size. One of these organizations includes the National Guard.

Safety is very important at Camp Swift. Safety precautions are taken before, during, and after the excercises. No soldiers' safety will be jeopardized to add realism to the exercises.

Camp Swift provides training areas. They have gun ranges for guns as small as hand guns to fields for tanks and artillery. Here are some of the ranges:

• Combat pistol qualification Course
• Pistol range - turning targets
• M16 automated record fire range
• Known distance range - 600 meters
• Machine gun qualification range
• M203/AT-4 Familiarization and M203 qualification range
• Demolition range
• Hand Grenade Range
• Land navigation Course

Young pilots-in-training can practice on helicopter or air force courses. All the troops go through rigorous physical training which includes an obstacle course and compass course. Back to Bastrop Today
