Bastrop Middle School is located in Bastrop,
Texas, a small, rural community 30 miles southeast of Austin.
The school houses approximately 640 seventh and eighth grade
students.
BMS is led by Principal Dr. Laurie Bauer, and Assistant Principal Natalie Bennight. A counselor, media specialist/librarian, nurse, registrar, secretary, and receptionist round out the office staff. The school is run on a block schedule with five, 70-minute classes each day. Students take ten different courses, alternating "A" and "B" day classes. Language Arts and Math meet every day. The school motto is "Whatever It Takes" and the school mascot is the bear cub. Colors are maroon and white. Bastrop Middle School is part of the Bastrop Independent School District.
